Stones for the Spirit
It is the fact that all of creation is a manifestation of the creative force called God.Obviously, the force or influence is instilled in everything. All elements that make up the material world are part of the evolution of vibrations, the atomic forces of matter, and these elements are constituents of the human body. Each cell of the body is a universe of atomic forces, bearing the imprint of the original forces that began with creation. In essence, this is our alliance, our kindredness, to all existence. We are one.At the same time, the spark of our beings is spirit, patterned in the image of the Creator who gave us free will, a mind of our own.It is through our wills that we shunted curiously along the path of vibrations to the farthest point, here, where it condensed into matter. We tarried so long that we have become denizens of this realm. We are, literally and spiritually, at the end of our rope- or vibrations.
Fortunately, we are not meant to perish. Unless we let go.Matter has become a kind of tar baby for us; we have difficulty shaking ourselves loose from it.The creative forces are still with us, however, even in matter and its vibrations. These are the stepping-stones that will guide us back to the beginning.Understanding that we may be in but should not be of the world will lead us to attune to the influences available, as lights to recokon by that illuminate the way along the spiritual path-the lost lane-end into heaven.
Matter is an expression of spirit in motion. If we choose to hold to the proper spirit and vibrate to better purposes, with the mantle of patience about us, we learn to rely upon the influences that really matter, because we then have eyes to see and ears to hear-to know the truth that frees us from blindly groping in ignorance. We begin by using that at hand, even if just a stone, since it can play a part in attracting helpful influences. Not unlike a magnet, a stone can attract or draw in through its negative-positive vibrations from the world at large, and it emits or throws off these vibrations. When they are in sympathy, in accord, with the body’s vibrations, the added emanations step up the sensitivity of the body’s forces, especially toward whatever the person may be seeking, consciously or unconsciously.Like attracts like.
The simplest method, obviously, is to choose a stone you like, perhaps based on your preference for its color, and wear it for a period of time while monitoring your inner response.Keep in mind that raw, uncut, semi-precious stones are relatively inexpensive, so you can test several stone-one at a time, of course-at little cost.Once you discover the one that feels right, then you can have it cut and set, wrapped in wire for pendant, or continue carrying it on your body.
Another approach is to hold the stone in your hand while you meditate. If you do not meditate, then either sit or lie quietly with the stone in your hand, or if you prefer, tape it to the center of your forehead, near the pituitary.Relax for thirty minutes and see whether you notice any influences.Try this for this for three to five days before using another stone. If you notice any disturbing influences during the test period, stop using the stone.
Can a stone’s vibrations have an antagonistic or negative effect on the body?We know that it can if not used properly; that is, if its powers are used for negative purposes.Aside from this, it might appear that if the emanations of a stone are not in accord with those of the body, then no influence results.
It is obvious that gems and stones have held special meanings for mankind through the ages.As with colors, most of the specialized knowledge of the past has been lost to the transitions of times and conditions-cycles of enlightenment and ignorance, of wisdom and superstition, of light and darkness.Yet in every age there are those who are sensitive and intuitive and psychic enough to look beyond the shadows and offer us a glimpse of the truth-that the universe is all of one force, and everything bears its vibrational imprints.Even the stones.

Giant Crystal Cave Comes to Light
Stefan Lovgren
for National Geographic News
April 6, 2007 It's "the Sistine Chapel of crystals," says Juan Manuel García-
Ruiz.
The geologist announced this week that he and a team of researchers have unlocked the mystery of just how the minerals in Mexico's Cueva de los Cristales (Cave of Crystals) achieved their monumental forms.
Buried a thousand feet (300 meters) below Naica mountain in the Chihuahuan Desert, the cave was discovered by two miners excavating a new tunnel for the Industrias Peñoles company in 2000.
The cave contains some of the largest natural crystals ever found: translucent gypsum beams measuring up to 36 feet (11 meters) long and weighing up to 55 tons.
"It's a natural marvel," said García-Ruiz, of the University of Granada in Spain.
To learn how the crystals grew to such gigantic sizes, García-Ruiz studied tiny pockets of fluid trapped inside.
The crystals, he said, thrived because they were submerged in mineral-rich water with a very narrow, stable temperature range—around 136 degrees Fahrenheit (58 degrees Celsius).
At this temperature the mineral anhydrite, which was abundant in the water, dissolved into gypsum, a soft mineral that can take the form of the crystals in the Naica cave.
The new findings appear in the April issue of the journal Geology.
The mining complex in Naica contains some of the world's largest deposits of silver, zinc, and lead.
In 1910 miners discovered another spectacular cavern beneath Naica.
Its walls studded with crystal "daggers," the Cave of Swords is closer to the surface, at a depth of nearly 400 feet (120 meters).
While there are more crystals in the upper cave, they are far smaller, typically about a yard (a meter) long.
Nearly the Size of a Basketball Court
The Cave of Crystals is a horseshoe-shaped cavity in limestone rock about 30 feet (10 meters) wide and 90 feet (30 meters) long.
Its floor is covered in crystalline, perfectly faceted blocks. The huge crystal beams jut out from both the blocks and the floor.
"There is no other place on the planet where the mineral world reveals itself in such beauty," García-Ruiz said.
Volcanic activity that began about 26 million years ago created Naica mountain and filled it with high-temperature anhydrite, which is the anhydrous—lacking water—form of gypsum.
Anhydrite is stable above 136 degrees Fahrenheit (58 degrees Celsius). Below that temperature gypsum is the stable form.
When magma underneath the mountain cooled and the temperature dropped below 58 degrees Celsius, the anhydrite began to dissolve. The anhydrite slowly enriched the waters with sulfate and calcium molecules, which for millions of years have been deposited in the caves in the form of huge selenite gypsum crystals.
"There is no limit to the size a crystal can reach," García-Ruiz said.
But, he said, for the Cave of Crystals to have grown such gigantic crystals, it must have been kept just below the anhydrite-gypsum transition temperature for many hundreds of thousands of years.
In the upper cave, by contrast, this transition temperature may have fallen much more rapidly, leading to the formation of smaller crystals.
To Reflood or Not to Reflood
While the chance of this set of conditions occurring on other places in the world is remote, García-Ruiz expects that there are other caves and caverns at Naica containing similarly large crystals.
"The caves containing larger crystals will be located in deeper levels with temperatures closer to, but no higher than, 58 degrees Celsius," he said.
He has recommended to the mining company that the caves should be preserved.
The only reason humans can get into the caves today, however, is because the mining company's pumping operations keep them clear of water. If the pumping is stopped, the caves will again be submerged and the crystals will start growing again, García-Ruiz said.
So what happens if—or when—the mine is closed?
"That's an interesting question," García-Ruiz said.
"Should we continue to pump water to keep the cave available so future generations may admire the crystals? Or should we stop pumping and return the scenario to the natural origin, allowing the crystals to regrow?"
WASHINGTON (March 15) - Cosmic nebulae usually look like in space, astronomers using the Spitzer Space Telescope reported on Wednesday they have found a nebula twisted like the double helix of DNA.
Twisted Double-Helix Nebula Found in Milky Way
JPL-Caltech, NASA/Reuters
The twisted nebula stretches across 80 light-years at the center of the Milky Way -- the galaxy that includes Earth.
"Nobody has ever seen anything like that before in the cosmic realm," said Mark Morris of the University of California, Los Angeles. Most nebulae are "formless, amorphous conglomerations of dust and gas," Morris said in a statement, adding that this one "indicates a high degree of order."
The discovery of the twisted nebula, which stretches across 80 light-years at the center of the Milky Way, the galaxy that includes Earth, was reported in the current edition of the journal Nature.
A light-year is about 6 trillion miles; the distance light travels in a year.
"We see two intertwining strands wrapped around each other as in a DNA molecule," said Morris, lead author of the Nature article.
DNA, which forms the basic material in chromosomes, has a molecule that looks like a twisted ladder, known as a double helix.
The strands of the nebula may be torqued by twisted magnetic fields at the Milky Way's center, Morris said by telephone.
These magnetic fields are indirectly spawned by the gaping black hole at the galactic heart, he said. Black holes are massive matter-sucking drains in space, pulling in everything around them so powerfully that not even light can escape.
But before the matter falls into the black hole, it swirls around its edges. This rotation twists the magnetic fields, which in turn twist the nebula's strands, Morris said.
The nebula is relatively close to the black hole, just 300 light-years away. Earth is more than 25,000 light-years away.
NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope detects the infrared energy emitted by objects in space with high sensitivity and resolution, enabling it to clearly see the nebula's distinctive shape.
